How do the Netherlands and UNFPA address the demographic transition in policy and practice? What strategies are used by non-governmental organizations to ensure freedom of choice in challenging environments?
On Wednesday 17 October in cooperation with UNFPA and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs the Netherlands, Rutgers organised the launch of the UNFPA State of the World Population report 2018, titled ‘The Power of Choice: Reproductive Rights and the Demographic Transition’.
Arthur Erken, Director of UNFPA’s Division of Communications and Strategic Partnerships officially launched the report by handing over the first copy of the report to Birgitte Tazelaar Director of Middle East North Africa at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and acting Director-General for International Cooperation at the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
A range of professionals in the field of policy, reproductive health and rights, and population dynamics attended. Two speakers from Senegal, Fatimata Sy and Solange Mbaje, were present through a video connection with the Dutch Embassy at Dakar.
